Mets fans blast me for being too optimistic. Other Mets fans blast me for being too pessimistic. Yankee fans blast me for fun. Tough to be a Met fan sometimes...OK all the time.

Later, there's a knock on the door ... why, it's Islanders goaltender Rick DiPietro!

I think the jig may be up in more ways than one. I fear we're at the beginning of a prolonged losing streak.

Good call Unser...the jig seems to be up on Oliver Perez (or at least it should be up. i am sick of all the chances this guy gets). hopefully Omar, Jerry and GMJ will be soon to follow.

I think what Ollie needs is a night out on the town. I hear Duaner Sanchez knows his way around Miami, and can recommend a good cab service. I'll even pay the fare....

I walked in last night, and my roommate (a yankee fan) said to me, "A.J. Burnett is pitching like Ollie Perez tonight", thinking he was being very clever about Burnett's less-than-stellar control (Burnett had allowed two runs in 6 innings, and only a couple walks). I just said, "Oh yeah? Turn on SNY. Ollie pitched tonight." And that was the end of that conversation. Frickin' Yankee fans and frickin' Ollie Perez.

Oh, and I'm glad Manuel brought up GMJ to pinch hit at the end to make sure any chance of a rally died right there. Like in Bob Uecker's HOF speech: "They used to tell me to go grab a bat and kill this rally. Or go up there without a bat and try to work a walk."
Did anyone else notice GMJ's little momentary homerun pose after he hit the ball that wound up traveling about 130 feet to end the game?
I didn't notice the homerun pose mainly because

I was so surprised that he actually made contact with the ball. I thought I was seeing things! I think that was GMJ's best contribution in a Met uniform right there...ending that awful game without striking out.
